Pets

I never thought that I would be a dog person. I used to think my friends were crazy the way they were with their animals. They treated their pets like they were part of the family, like another child. Well that has all changed. Within a week of getting Pixie I knew that she was part of the family. I loved her and didn't even get too mad when she peed on the floor. She was so cute, little, and cuddly. You just couldn't stay mad. I got Pixie for Christmas from Pete. Then five month later Kiefer and I decided that she needed a friend so we got Oscar. Now let me tell you Oscar is a bad puppy. If you saw the movie Marley and Me or read the book, Oscar is Marley just in a smaller form. He eats every thing; shoes, socks even the walls of our new house, but there is no way that we could ever get rid of him. We all love him so much. This morning Oscar went to jump up on my bed and caught his toe nail on the bench and ripped it nearly off. He was bleeding badly and you could tell he was in a lot of pain. I just felt so bad that I couldn't help him. I called the vet and took him in and he had to have surgery on his poor foot. The money was not an object, I just wanted my poor baby to feel better. He had to have his nail completely removed and cauterized the blood vessel so he would stop bleeding. The surgery went well and they called me to go pick him up even sooner than they had expected. He is doing okay, but he is not himself. He is just laying around. I think that by tomorrow he will be feeling a whole lot better. Wow, and Pixie, the most jealous dog in the world, is being excellent. She is being so nice to Oscar and isn't even freaking out when we hold him.

Well... I have defiantly joined that weird group of people who talk about their pets like they are people and treat them like one of the family, and I wouldn't have it an other way.

I grew up with a beloved dog and I have ALWAYS loved them. I know what its like to think of them like one of the family. They really are irreplaceable in their own special ways.

Poor little Oscar. He looks so sad on that blanket with his little foot all bandaged up. Cute lil buggers.
